SINGAPORE - A survey conducted by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) has found that more employers in Singapore are offering flexible work arrangement and are more generous when it comes to offering leave benefits.

The ministry said in a statement on Tuesday that the proportion of companies offering at least one form of formal flexible work arrangement improved to 47 per cent this year, from 38 per cent in 2011.

Part-time work continues to be the most prevalent flexible work arrangement, offered by 36 per cent of surveyed firms. Flexi-time and staggered hours are offered by 12 per cent and 11 per cent of firms respectively. Formal tele-working is offered by 5.8 per cent of firms.

When it comes to leave, most employers were generous in providing compassionate and marriage leave, MOM said.

Over four in 10 firms also gave unpaid leave of more than a month for staff to pursue personal interests or to attend to family matters.

The share of full-time employees entitled to at least 15 days of paid annual leave rose 1.3 percentage point from 2012 to 42 per cent this year.

The five-day work week continues to be the norm for most workers here, the survey found too.
