Keeping your eyes and mind glued to work can be detrimental to your health and could lead to a negative effect on your performance.

  • Eating is important as it gives your mind a break, and allows you to recharge for more activities after your break. Working through the lunch break is detrimental to your health and performance.
  • International speaker and author Michael Kerr says that successful people eat healthily. “They eat healthy, and eat mindfully,” Kerr says. Eating unhealthy junk food could not only lead to bad health but also leads to higher levels of stress and inability to focus.
  • Avoid food coma by eating the right amount. This way, you can be efficient throughout the afternoon.
  • Take the opportunity to sit down with somebody who could change your career or working life. While working, we seldom have the time to connect with our contacts on a personal level. Make use of the lunch hour to establish lasting relationships which could aid your career in future.

  • Do the things you cannot do in the mornings and evenings. Using the lunch hour to achieve personal tasks helps you work more efficiently and allows you to cut down your to-do list before the day ends. This will shorten the time you're out and let you get home sooner.
  • Because you are working all day, you are not be able to pamper yourself or do things for yourself. Take the lunch hour as an opportunity to get some me-time by doing things you enjoy for a change.
