TAIPEI, Taiwan - The 32nd annual Asian Bankers Association (ABA) meeting will be held in Taipei between Nov. 12 and 13, CTBC Bank Co. announced yesterday.

The meeting, with the theme "borderless growth," will hold discussions on regional integration of banks in Asia, customer financial management across different cultures, and opportunities brought about by digitization and new technologies.

The decision was announced at the APA's Planning Committee Meeting held at the CTBC Financial Park yesterday. It was attended by APA members coming from Japan, Vietnam, the Philippines, Hong Kong and Iran, among others.

CTBC Financial President Daniel Wu said in his opening address that the whole world is being affected by the big data revolution, and new technologies are changing the financial industry's mode of operation and ecosystem.

Digitized, web-based and mobile finance management will be the new norm. How to utilize Cloud technology to achieve optimum operation and to find business opportunities will be thoroughly discussed at November's two-day annual meeting, Wu said.

It is true that fast-changing technologies also bring about great challenges, Wu said. Through the platform of the ABA, member banks will be able to pool in various perspectives and step up collaboration.

The ABA is holding its annual meeting in Taiwan for the fifth time. The country has the most bank members, and plays a critical role in Asia's financial development.

Finance professionals and scholars have also been invited to give keynote speeches at the meeting, which will be attended by more than 250 bank representatives.

Founded 34 years ago, the ABA is the largest financial institution in the Asia-Pacific region. It is also the only Asian financial organisation invited by Germany's Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) to attend a risk assessment meeting in February.
