SINGAPORE - Online retailer Lazada Group has achieved an annualised gross merchandise volume of US$1 billion (S$ 1.26 billion) in March, up 350 per cent from the same period a year ago.
In its third year of operation, the group's retail sites can be found in various South-east Asian markets including Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
Most recently, Lazada Singapore celebrated its first year in the Singapore market with a sale campaign that ran from April 7 to 9. Close to half a million visits were recorded on its sites and mobile applications during the campaign, the company said.
The group also saw almost 10 thousand mobile application downloads over the three-day period.
Over the last few years, Lazada Group raised about €520 million (S$768 million) in funding from investors such as Temasek Holdings and British retail giant Tesco.
In March, Mr Martell Hardenberg, chief executive of Lazada Singapore told The Straits Times that the group's Singapore site featured about 130,000 products and has about 100,000 customers and 1,000 sellers.
Lazada employs close to 100 staff in its Singapore office, and about 4,000 employees across South-east Asia.
