JOHOR BARU - Property developers in the state hope the Johor Housing and Real Property Enactment Board Bill 2014 will level the playing field for all builders in the state.

Johor Real Estate and Housing Developers Association (Redha) deputy chairman Wong Kuen Kong said there had been a lot of talk and speculation about foreign developers getting better treatment than local developers.

"While the entry of new players will be good for the industry, I hope it will not be at the expense of local developers - as many have been operating in the state for the past 30 years," he added.

"We do not know much about the Bill but hope the road show planned by the state government will shed light about its contents," he said at a preview of a new project and Fathers Day celebrations at Sri Austin here yesterday.

"We are the frontliners in the industry and always on the ground. Our feedback should be valuable for them to come up with practical measures and guidelines to facilitate the industry," he said, adding that Johor Redha has 110 members.

Wong said Redha would not protect developers who purposely did not build affordable homes within their projects, adding that the new board should not just listen to Rehda but also others in the industry, including engineers, architects and contractors.
